David A. Seaver has been travelling the world since he was a child.
He grew up in a family which values travel as an important part of life,
learning, and happiness. Through his experiences David sees the world
with eyes wide open, always ready for a new adventure. This need to travel
combined with his passion and skill as a Photographer has lead David to
make exciting and compelling photos the world over.
David studied Studio Art at Skidmore College, concentrating on Photography
and silversmithing. David spent his third year at the renowned Glasgow
School of Art in Scotland, in the silversmithing and Jewelry department.
Studying in Scotland gave David the chance to explore Europe, which in
turn expanded his visual vocabulary and further fueled his need for travel.
Although silversmithing would not prove to be the path he would ultimately
follow, it taught David the importance of the process' in art and
crafts, which he has successfully applied to photography.
Since graduating from Skidmore College, David has worked as a freelance
Photographer from his native Vermont. His work has been widely published
in magazines, books, in travel literature as well as online.
David's true passion lies in in-depth documentary photography, with its
inherent ability for immersion in a culture, allowing for a deeper understanding
and greater knowledge of a given subject. Through his images, David hopes
to both educate and enlighten.
Cambodia has proved to be a perfect fit for David's photography, giving
him an opportunity to make photographs of a country with a fascinating
story that begs to be told visually.
Jediah Byrom is a graduate of Wesleyan University
in Middletown, Connecticut. He began studying Chinese language and culture
at age thirteen and made his first trip to Asia in 1992 at seventeen,
spending a summer of study at Fudan University in Shanghai, China. In
1996 he returned to China again, this time for a semester's study at Nanjing
University, again in China. Asia had clearly taken possession of some
part of his soul.
Following the successful completion of Bachelor of Arts degrees in both
East Asian Studies and International Politics, Jediah decided that, while
his knowledge on China was reasonably extensive, his knowledge of Southeast
Asia was extremely limited. A year long trip comprised of travel and work
took him through a significant portion of the Southeast Asian region and
provided valuable insights into the culture and people of these countries.
That year also saw Asia settle into his consciousness and become an important
part of his life. Five years later, in 2002, Jediah settled on Cambodia
as a place to live, renting a home, purchasing land, and immersing himself
in Khmer Culture.
Jediah now splits his time between Cambodia and Pittsford, Vermont. He
is active in a variety of NGO development projects as an occasional advisor
as well as helping to facilitate Cambodian-American cultural exchange
programs. This is his first book.
